Mike began his professional career as an engineer with Rockwell International and in 1982 was a founding principal of Verity Instruments, Inc.  Under his technical and managerial guidance Verity Instruments has grown to become a leader in optical emission process controls for advanced semiconductor manufacturing worldwide. He holds a BSEE degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and studied law at Southern Methodist University.  He currently serves as an advisor and sits on the board of directors of RedCritter Corp. (enterprise and educational gamification for productivity enhancement), and is an advisory board member of Metrocrest Services (social services organization providing assistance to North Texas families).

Mr. Whelan founded ReMa Energy, LLC in 2009 to explore development and investment opportunities in the continental United States oil & gas industry.
